To maintain competitiveness of industrial assets, more efficient or effective technologies need to be developed and integrated into existing assets and maintenance processes. Such innovation requires cross-sector collaboration, connecting the fields of materials science, manufacturing and ICT among others.
At international level, there is limited collaboration on Maintenance, and the topic is not systematically integrated in the EU’s main research programme Horizon 2020. To address this, a European Strategic Research Agenda for Maintenance will be developed and aligned with Europe’s Horizon 2020 objectives.
Initially, the manufacturing, process and utilities industries will be included. The process is open to participation for companies, research institutes and policymakers across Europe. The resulting SRA will be connected with relevant European organisations, such as technology platforms.
Based on identified research priorities, international matchmaking will be organised to connect research and industry in collaborative R&D projects.
